From a one-car garage in the early
1960’s , John J. Wert, Jr. developed a firm that has become a leader
in the library bookbinding industry. Beginning in 1963 when John and
Kathryn, his wife, started full-time in the business, growth and
profits remained constantly improving. Operations moved from the
garage, to the rear of a local food market and then to an old
church. In 1968, the firm was moved to a rented building at the
Harrisburg International Airport, but not before being incorporated
in 1966. John Wert passed away three years later in 1971.
The corporation suffered
another great setback in 1972 when the company was devastated by the
Agnes flood. The bindery and inventory were greatly damaged by seven
feet of water. Within weeks though, operations were back to normal
through the efforts and cooperation of our excellent staff.
The corporation
built its present location in 1984. Over the years loyal employees
and a great product have made Wert Bookbinding, Inc. one of the
premier library bookbinderies in the eastern United States. Today,
Wert Bookbinding provides quality products to libraries, printers,
and individuals. Please feel free
